Rhinoplasty Results

Now we have all seen photos of botched nose jobs. The media loves to trot out pictures of surgery gone wrong and for some reason many of us like to see them. It's akin to not being able to take your eyes off an auto accident or a fire. Sure, these things happen in life, but rhinoplasty results in general are good. Only about twenty percent of people who have a nose job require a second surgery. That's impressive considering the large number of nose jobs performed in a year.

This can happen for several reasons. Sometimes the patient just doesn't like his or her new nose. This could be because they were unrealistic in their expectations or unclear when telling the surgeon what they wanted. It is important also to listen to the surgeon when having your consultation so that you can take his recommendations into consideration. Often even a subtle change can produce a dramatic difference in your appearance. Most people do not fall into this category, but those patients with a distorted body image may never be satisfied and r pursuit of "perfection" is lifelong. It is up to the surgeon to determine if this is the case, and if so they are free to refuse to perform the operation. Other times the problem is structural and a second surgery can correct it. It is very mportant to wait at least nine months before having another surgery. It gives the incisions time to heal and the scar issue time to soften making the revision surgery much easier.

Once the bruising and swelling subside, you should have a good idea of your final results in around two to three weeks. Most people can return to their normal activities by this time and wearing make up will conceal any remaining bruises.Careful attention to the post op instructions given to you at discharge regarding care and activity restrictions will ensure that you don't injure your nose. The tissues are delicate and during the healing process extra care must be taken. Doing research prior to surgery, choosing the best surgeon for you and having realistic expectations can ensure that your results are everything you want them to be. You may have to interview several surgeons before choosing one to find the best fit. Talk to people who have had rhinoplasty and look at the before and after photos. Most importantly, decide what you really want and your rhinoplasty experience and results are more than likely to be positive.
